Reviews
At first I cannot relate to Frankie’s burping. Is it a boy’s thing? Girls usually are not proud of displaying such bodily function. I had to put myself in his situation. I became a child and I thought like a child.
This is the story of Frankie…
Frankie used to be the cute li’l froggy and the center of attention of his family until his sister Bridget comes along. Since then, he notices that his mom and dad give so much more care to her and this annoys him. He starts eating lady bugs to make himself burp.
Frankie, the main character, decides to attract his parent’s attention. He eats lady bugs to induce burping. He feels good. He gets the attention of everyone, including schoolmates, teachers and froggies in the community. At first, it was cute and funny when he created the “big, loud crashing-tin-can-sounding burp.” The other froggies take notice and compliment him on it. Everyone loves it!
Then suddenly, everyone gets tired and annoyed of the sound of burping and farting. One day, Frankie gets sick from eating too many ladybugs and has to be rushed to the hospital. Lying in the hospital bed, he craves for care and attention.
This story will really have kids in stitches. They can relate to the burping and farting sound. These biological sounds have always attracted laughter and kids’ attention, specially from the boys. This is a fun early chapter book for kids. Parents will also find it hilarious to read aloud.
The illustrations are great as usual. The characters are bright and colorful---very attractive. They have clean and fine lines. The following pages after the story contain coloring pages, which any child will find irresistible.
I recommend this book. It has great visual effects and colorful sounding phrases such as “big, loud crashing-tin-can-sounding burp.” You can almost hear the burping and the children’s laughter right after. And beneath the laughter, you know that any child reading this book will feel secure and feel no need to do silly things like Frankie because of his or her family's love. A must-read! (Eileen Rogelio of Plum Chat, book reviewer, Philippines)

I bought four of these books for two of my grandsons. They just love them! They are well written and beautifully illustrated. They even have coloring pages in the back. Wonderful! (Joyce Mondor, North Highlands)
Atharva’s face just lit up seeing the book was especially signed for him. Thank you for the book Chrissi. He cherishes the book. (Paresh Tiwari, electrical engineer and poet, India)
